APEX Rehab
For both our residential and outpatient programs, APEX offers group psychotherapy to treat addictions and the various mental health issues that come along with them. Our group therapy sessions are small enough so that all members get to know each other. Our therapists are trained in the use of group psychotherapy to treat addictions, and we use this approach for several reasons:
- We find that sharing stories within a group setting helps patients connect with others – so patients know they’re not alone in their struggles.
- The group acts as a support system and sounding board; we are open and honest with each other, but nothing leaves the group. Confidentiality is the most important aspect of group therapy.
- We share in each other’s successes. Group members want to see each other heal and break free from addiction; we support and applaud each other at every milestone on the path to recovery.
DBT Group Therapy
APEX group therapy clinicians utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or DBT, as one of several treatment approaches to drug and alcohol addiction and emotional illnesses. In this group setting, patients learn how to deal with the everyday problems of life. Joining others who are going through similar struggles with addiction and mental health issues promotes a positive, healing environment. DBT therapy focuses on helping patients to develop both short- and long-term goals not necessarily related to their addictions, so they can lead productive lives following recovery.
 CBT Group Therapy
In addition to our individual Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), APEX’s licensed and certified practitioners utilize CBT group therapy to encourage behavior modification and to help patients change negative thinking patterns. We find that a group setting helps to reinforce positive behaviors by allowing patients to share their stories and provide feedback to one another. Our team has a proven track record of successfully treating both addictions and mental illness through group CBT therapy, when used as part of an integrative treatment plan.
 Coping Skills Group Therapy
Patients who suffer from addiction are often overburdened and stressed beyond their limits from the normal problems of life. While we all face some degree of adversity, certain individuals have a harder time coping than others.
Taking this into account, our group therapy involves modifying behavioral patterns and integrating different therapies to aid our patients in learning how to cope with the challenges and problems on the level of every day. With constructive and more efficient coping mechanisms our patients stand better chances at escaping the grip of addiction for the long run.
 Alumni Support Group Therapy
For patients who have already gone through one of our residential or outpatient treatment programs, we provide ongoing therapy through an alumni support group. With this group therapy approach, we bring together those who have recovered from substance abuse and other addictions to help them maintain their sober lifestyles. As with other group therapies, patients are able to share their successes and struggles with their peers, who understand and can relate. Alumni support therapy keeps many patients from relapsing after recovery.
